“Canela” means cinnamon in Portuguese. I met this sensitive mare during my travels in Portugal and after spending hours after hours with her, getting closer and learning about her nature I decided to paint her. This portrait was birthed through deep observations and the sense of softness I have witnessed beneath layers of brokenness from a past unspoken of.
